Norwegian seafood firm Nordic Aquafarms, which is planning a 33,000-metric-ton land-based salmon farm in Maine and an additional 27,000-metric-ton farm in California, has appointed Steven Sachs as its national senior vice president for construction activities.

Sachs joins from construction giant Skanska, where he has overseen expansion of the LaGuardia Airport in New York for the past few years.

Prior to that he has had a varied executive career in the construction industry among large firms.

Sachs joins Nordic Aquafarms as preparations for the company's first land-based fish farms in the United States are getting underway.

His primary base will be in Portland, Maine, until construction activities start in Nordic's two US locations: Belfast, Maine and Humbolt County, California.

Sachs is originally from South Africa, but has resided for in the US with his family for several years.
