Scottish aquaculture technology startup Ace Aquatec gained a foothold in the South American market opening its first regional office in Chile led by regional manager Jose Luis Charpentier.

Charpentier previously held various aquaculture-related roles, including a marine biologist and a production and commercial manager.

Ace Aquatec recently won investment from Scottish tech duo Chris van der Kuyl and Paddy Burns as its fish stunner product enters the next phase of expansion.

The tech duo are best known from 4J Studios, the Scottish video game developers of Minecraft Console Edition.

In November, sustainable aquaculture fund Aqua-Spark invested in Ace Aquatec to drive its product into the market on a larger scale.

The fish stunner company has contracts with major UK fish farms including Scottish Sea Farms and Scottish Salmon Company. The company also exports its range of products to New Zealand, Australia, USA, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Greece, Germany, Denmark and Russia.
