Kristin Veriga has been appointed chief marketing officer at Permira-owned Taiwan feed giant Grobest.

Veriga joins the company after two and a half years at tilapia producer Regal Springs, where he was most recently executive vice president of commercial, a position he took up in April from his Singapore base.

Veriga has a long run of executive positions in food companies listed on his resume, including as regional marketing director at British multinational Reckitt Benckiser in Dubai, general manager at Nomad Foods' owned Iglo Group and over five years as marketing director for the Gulf and Pakistan at US food giant Mars.

In July, Grobest appointed Ramakanta Nayak as group marketing director from his position as general manager at Trouw Nutrition's Asia Pacific team in Thailand. Before that Nayak was commercial director at Nutreco, also based in Thailand, where he set up the company's feed additives business regional unit in Bangkok.

Under Permira's ownership, Taiwanese feed giant Grobest has growth on its mind, CEO Samson Li told IntraFish in January. And while it has capacity to do this organically in most markets, it will also be pursuing mergers and acquisitions, both inside and outside Asia, said Li.

"We are actively scouting for opportunities," said Li. "We are looking for companies of a certain size with the same vision and ambitions that can help us have a bigger presence."

A family-owned firm until funds managed by European private equity firm Permira bought a 50 percent stake in the company in November 2018, the new investor is ambitious to make Grobest a global company.
