A contractor died on-site at AquaChile's Elena facility in Aysen on March 17 while ropes were being loaded from a feed barge, El Divisadero reported.
Diving supervisor Juan Ruiz Gallardo was killed, while another diver, Maikal Salazar Rojar, suffered severe injuries and is being treated in a hospital. Both men worked for the company Servicios Maritimos Marinetech.
Rojar is in a stable condition and will be transferred to Puerto Montt from the Melinka healthcare center, according to AquaChile.
"Along with regretting this accident, the company will collaborate with the investigation carried out by the authorities and, in addition, we will carry out our own internal investigation, to avoid events like this being repeated in the future," AquaChile said.
