Salmones Camanchaca has appointed Pablo Albistur as regional salmon farming manager.

Albistur joins the company from rival Chilean salmon producer Blumar, where he spent seven years, first as production and operations manager and later as farming manager.

Prior to this, he held down commercial, administrative and sustainable development roles at Chilean copper and molybdenum mining giant Codelco.

Camanchaca's first half earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) slid as the company's salmon farming division sustained heavy losses brought on by algae blooms and low water oxygen levels.
