London stock market listed aquaculture genetics firm Benchmark Genetics has appointed Adrian Antonsen as applied genetics consultant.
Antonsen will join the company’s core genetics team to strengthen the company's external consultancy services in this newly established position.
He recently graduated from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, with an MSc in biotechnology and system biology. His thesis focused on analytics and handling of large and complex data from biological research.
Antonsen’s knowledge of bioinformatics, molecular biology, statistics, and programing will add particular value to the company’s clients breeding programs, said Benchmark in a release.
Earlier this year, the company's Icelandic division announced plans to increase production capacity of Atlantic salmon eggs by building a new incubation center holding an annual capacity of 300 million ova.
The company was founded in 2000 and listed on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange in 2013. Benchmark Genetics is a leader in aquaculture genetics with five in-house breeding programs focusing on salmon, shrimp and tilapia.
