Norwegian krill harvester and processor Aker BioMarine has appointed Carl Christian Bachke as senior vice president of investor relations.

Bachke will take up the position on Oct. 1.

He was most recently a partner and senior adviser at Norwegian capital market and IR firm Crux Advisers. Prior to that, he held senior equity analyst positions in
Nordea Markets, RS Platou Markets and Fondsfinans, with a focus on oil, energy and industrial segments.

Aker Biomarine listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange's main market in April this year, nearly 15 years after the group first went public on the exchange before lackluster financial performance forced it to de-list.

Aker’s principal owner, Norwegian billionaire Kjell Inge Rokke, recently partnered with Norwegian salmon farmer SalMar to create a new global offshore aquaculture company.

The new jointly owned company, SalMar Aker Ocean, will farm fish both in weather-exposed areas and far offshore, with ambitions of eventually taking their project into international waters. The establishment of the joint company is subject to customary closing conditions, and closing is expected in the first quarter of next year.

The two groups said the initial public offering (IPO) is planned for between one to two years' time.
