North Atlantic pelagic giant Pelagia has acquired 100 percent of the shares in Norwegian fish oil producer Aquarius.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Aquarius was established in Lovund, Norway, in the late 1990s by Vigner Olaisen and other partners.

In 2008, Norwegian company Hordafor, which produces feed raw materials, became the largest shareholder in Aquarius.

In the past year, Pelagia -- a 50-50 joint venture between salmon and fisheries group Austevoll Seafood and Kvefi -- acquired full ownership of Hordafor, and fishmeal and oil processor Norsk Fiskeindustri Invest.
