Earnings soar at Austevoll's Peruvian fishmeal subsidiary, thanks to strong anchovy season

Austral Group, the Peruvian pelagic division of Austevoll Seafood, posted a 170 percent increase in second quarter operating earnings on higher anchovy harvests and subsequent fishmeal and oil sales.

Earning before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) came in at NOK 162 million (€15.4 million/$17.9 million), while revenue more than doubled to NOK 389 million (€36.9 million/$43.1 million).

Austral, which holds 6.98 percent of the total anchovy quota for in Peru's key North-Central fishing grounds, finished the first fishing season on July 26, after landing all of its allocated quota.
