The death of a diver working at a salmon farming site is usually in and out of the news cycle quickly. But behind each of these stories there is, of course, a larger story.

I urge all of you to read the excellent work by my colleague John Evans. He examined the scope of diver accidents/deaths across the salmon farming sector and found that Chile -- by far -- has the biggest problem addressing these industrial injuries/deaths.

Perhaps it is time for those buying salmon from Chile to demand that their suppliers address this issue more robustly.
