The shrimp production company will be called Kauai Shrimp, and the premium white shrimp it will grow will be marketed under that same name, CEO Brian Goldstein told IntraFish on Wednesday.
The shrimp farm, located on the west part of Kauai on lands that use to house the old sugar plantations that dominated the island for most of the 20th century, is the only one in the world to run on fully renewable hydroelectric power, said Goldstein.
“We are the only shrimp company in North America that is fully integrated, from a nucleus breeding program to broodstock production, a commercial-scale hatchery, shrimp farm and shrimp processing,” he said.
