Haddock is in danger of being "priced out" of the market as prices keep pushing higher, industry watchers told IntraFish.

"Quota has gone down and prices up -- it's difficult to put haddock out there. We're struggling," said Odinn Gestsson, general manager at Icelandic cod and haddock supplier Islandssaga.

The company's main market, the United Kingdom, has trimmed back on its purchases. Sales have dropped 30 percent compared to the previous year while prices have gone up 15-20 percent, he said.

Auction prices for fresh Icelandic haddock increased from ISK 306 (€2/$2.70)
