Few in the Western world knew the names of either of the two companies that split up the assets of North American seafood giant Icicle Seafoods, but Indonesia-owned Convergence Holdings, Inc. and Florida-based Dominion Catchers are in the spotlight now.

Icicle owner Paine & Partners announced Friday Convergence, owned by Indonesia's wealthy Soetuantyo family, would be acquiring all of the company's shore-based processing assets, including its Washington State salmon-farming business, while Dominion Catchers LLC would take the company's harvesting arm.

The Soetantyos oversee a large empire of companies in Indonesia stretching back decades, and have deep roots in the tuna industry in particular.
