With the public comment period for the Russian pollock fishery in the Sea of Okhotsk closed, the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification team is in the midst of reviewing feedback received during the public comment period. Its decision could come any day now, eliciting some anxiety among pollock producers in the United States.
US pollock processors at the At Sea Processors Association (ASPA) say the fishery doesn’t deserve the stamp.
“The scores are too high, and when properly rescored, the fishery would not pass,” Jim Gilmore, director of public affairs for the ASPA, told IntraFish.
The
