Norway-based Villa Organic announced they will have Aquaculture Stewardship Council-certified salmon on shelves by autumn.
"Villa has been farming according to the private standard ofthe supermarket chain Whole Foods Market in [the United States]," the company said. "Through participation in thedevelopment and implementation of these standards, and following annual audits,Villa has build a substantial amount of know-how and experience in eco-friendlyfarming."
The company has been a "pilot partner" in ASC's Salmon Audit Manual testing and the final audit is scheduled to take place in September, after which Villa will offer the ASC salmon.
