Quoc Viet Seaproducts Processing Trading and Import-Export, based in Cau Mau province in Vietnam, expects to sell around 2,000 metric tons into the U.S. market over 2011, taking its total export volumes up 20 percent to 12,000 metric tons, said Tuan Quoc Ngo, the company’s vice general director.
In August, the U.S. government dropped a 25 percent duty on Quoc Viet, thus opening up the market.
The company is close to securing Friend of the Sea eco-label certification, in addition to its grade A British Retail Consortium (BRC) certification for exports to Europe.
