Vietnam's seafood imports from January to May rose to $730 million (€652.2 million), a five percent increase year-on-year, according to Agro Processing and Market Development Authority under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, reported Saigon Times.

Around 90 percent of imports were processed in the country and exported, the ministry said.

Total imports amounted to $1.7 billion (€1.5 billion), according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

Shrimp accounted for 26 percent of total volume, while tuna imports made up 20 percent.
