The US Department of Commerce (DOC) on Tuesday set final countervailing duty rates on warmwater shrimp imports -- and there were plenty of surprises.

While Thailand and Indonesia emerged with minimal duties, China, and most surprisingly Ecuador, saw their rates jump significantly.

The final rate for Thailand's Marine Gold and Thai Union were set at 1.52 percent and 1.41 percent, respectively. This compares with preliminary rates released in May of 2.09 percent for Thai Union and 1.75 for Marine Gold.
