The US-based Southern Shrimp Alliance (SSA) said this week it is "hugely concerned" following a CBC investigation that found “worrying levels” of antibiotic-resistant bacteria on imported shrimp bought at major grocery stores across Canada.

“We are certainly not blaming anyone yet but they are finding this on imported shrimp,” SSA Executive Director John Williams told IntraFish.

“Regardless of what someone may say that its not that many, it’s not this, it’s not that, the problem is still there and it could be devastating to public health,” he said.
