As shrimp prices in Asia edge up on higher costs and lower supply, US shrimp prices appear to be recovering after an 18-month slaughtering, but whether the recovery will come quickly enough to keep up with raw material prices is yet to be seen.

“There’s no doubt about it that the market is showing some strength here in the States at least,” Mike Hughes, a shrimp buyer for $300 million (€229 million) US distributor Slade Gorton, told IntraFish.

He is now selling 16-20 count.
