The US State Department on Thursday announced Thailand's efforts to combat human trafficking and forced labor warranted an improvement in its ranking to 'Tier 2 Watch List" in its latest Trafficking in Persons (TIP) report.
While the Tier 2 Watch List rating indicates an increased effort on behalf of the country, it also means the number of trafficking victims remains "very significant," and that the country continues to lack a sufficient framework for making appropriate improvements to curb forced labor and trafficking.
