Tough times in the US farmed salmon market took a toll on salmon giants’ third quarter results.

Low prices in the United States were the main driver of third-quarter losses for the Canadian and Chilean divisions of both Marine Harvest  and Cermaq.

The biggest problem, naturally, is oversupply.

 “There’s just too much fish in the market now,” a seller in the salmon industry told IntraFish. "In the last month and a half, there's been more fish on the market than people want to buy."
