North American farmed salmon prices appear to be making their way out of a hole, much to the surprise of Nick Dicarlo, Mainstream Canada’s sales manager.

“The market is definitely doing better than we thought it would, but we’d certainly like to see the market improve,” Dicarlo told IntraFish. October, despite being National Seafood Month, is typically a low sales time for salmon.

Mainstream Canada, Cermaq's subsidiary, sells commodity salmon to customers in the United States and Canada, where prices fell below the cost of production last summer.
