The algal bloom spreading in northern Norway has wiped out 13,000 metric tons Norwegian farmed salmon, according to the Friday's update from the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries.

No mortality was reported at new sites during the past 24 hours, but about 7 million fish died in total throughout the past week.

Farmers lost NOK 800 million (€82.1 million/$91.9 million) as a result. Prices of Norwegian farmed salmon drop into the next week as farmers harvested volumes ahead of time to avert risks of the algal bloom.
