Silke Kettner, managing director at the Luneburg Union (Gewerkschaft Nahrung-Genuss-Gaststätten NGG), said she was "shocked" to learn about the planned closure of Pickenpack's plant in Luneburg, which will see about 400 people lose their jobs.

"We are very disappointed, especially after our initial optimism when the company entered bankruptcy proceedings [in December last year]," she told IntraFish Friday.

On Thursday, Pickenpack's administrator Friedrich von Kaltenborn-Stachau of Hamburg-based law firm Böge Rohde Luebbehuesen (BRL), announced the plant would shut by the end of June.
