Pole and line canned tuna brand The Reel Fish Co has been waiting for its moment to pounce on the larger UK brands for their lack of sustainable sourcing, and in October the green group Greenpeace gave them just that.

Greenpeace’s latest ‘Tuna League’ of United Kingdom brands placed John West at the bottom, with the other major player Princes following close behind.

After promising consumers back in 2011 that 100 percent of its tuna would be sustainable by 2016, John West has managed only 2 percent according to Greenpeace who claims 'nearly all of its tuna' is caught in nets using much maligned Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs).
