U.S. smoked fish companies racked up seven recalls during the past two and a half months, just three less than the average number of recalls the industry typically gets in an entire year.

At this rate, the smoked fish sector will receive 33 recalls over the course of the current fiscal year, which began Oct. 1 — more than twice the recalls of any other fiscal year since 2000, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) data shows.
