Chesapeake Bay Packing, a leading scallop producer based in Virginia, has put seven scallop vessels up for sale.
Two companies are in the running to acquire the vessels, including Fleet Fisheries, Chesapeake Bay Packing Director of Operations Chris Brauer told IntraFish on Monday.
“What’s at stake is the quota,” Brauer said.
Fleet Fisheries has expressed concerns about the deal and is the less serious of the two possible buyers, he added. Brauer declined to name the second interested party in the vessels.
