A new land-based sturgeon farm will open doors in early 2015 in Turkmenistan, Dietmar Firzlaff, managing director at German company AquaFuture -- the consultants for project -- told IntraFish, following a €20 million ($25.7 million) investment in the first phase of operation.
The recirculation facility, located on about 100 hectares of land along the Caspian Sea, will produce both beluga caviar and meat for the local and exports markets.
Engineering, building, training, operation and processing are being organized around five project members.
