US President Donald Trump on Wednesday ordered his administration to consider more than doubling proposed tariffs on $200 billion (€172 billion) worth of Chinese goods from 10 to 25 percent.

“This week, the president has directed that I consider increasing the proposed level of the additional duty from 10 percent to 25 percent," said US Trade Representative (USTR) Robert Lighthizer in a statement. "The 25 percent duty would be applied to the proposed list of products previously announced on July 10."
