Trident Seafoods, inaugural sponsor of the IntraFish Women in Seafood Leadership Summit, is getting behind the event for a third time as it gets set to run in San Diego, Jan. 16.

"There are many benefits of having female leaders in our industry," CEO Joe Bundrant told IntraFish. "Women bring a more diverse and creative way of thinking, they are excellent at developing relationships and are exceptional problem solvers."

Representing Trident on stage will be Senior Director Torunn Halhjem, a passionate advocate for diversity in the sector and the benefits it brings to a generally male-oriented and ageing sector.

She will join a lineup of speakers addressing the crucial issue of diversity and the bottom line, exploring how female leadership brings both cultural and financial benefits to business.

Also sponsored by the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute, the event will be held at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina. Both female and male executives are welcome to be a part of this important evening of lively discussion and networking.

Alongside Halhjem, speakers so far include American Seafoods CEO Mikel Durham, Director of Talent Development at Thai Union North America, Jennifer Smigelski; Gorton's Seafood's VP of Operations, Lisa Webb; ASMI Technical Director Michael Kohan; Love the Wild's Jacqueline Claudia; and Arion Bank Senior Account Manager for Seafood, Helga Sigurros Valgeirsdottir.
