A group of Alaska salmon processors led by Trident Seafoods hoping to sign back onto the Marine Stewardship Council certification of Alaska salmon received a resounding no this week from the Alaska Salmon Processors Association (ASPA), clients of the certification.
Trident Seafoods, Peter Pan Seafoods, Icicle Seafoods, Ocean Beauty Seafoods, North Pacific Seafoods, Alaska General/Leader Creek Fisheries all were hoping to convince ASPA to let them share the clientship of the fishery in order to again be allowed to attach the MSC eco-label to their salmon.
