Chilean salmon farmer Nova Austral's Chief Operating Officer Francisco Miranda is in a "delicate state of health" after an accident, the company said Tuesday.

Miranda suffered a head injury after falling from a horse on Oct. 17.

CFO Nicolas Larco has assumed Miranda’s duties. In addition, Javier Herrera Portorelli, former Seawater Production Director at Cermaq Chile, will join the company as a production manager, on Nov. 15, strengthening the production team with responsibilities for freshwater and seawater operations.

"Nova Austral is operating normally and hopes Francisco Miranda will recover soon and resume his functions as soon as his health allows it," said company Chairman Yngve Myhre.

In July, Nova Austral fired CEO Nicos Nicolaides in connection with an ongoing investigation into the company's misreporting of fish mortalities at its farms.

Miranda, the former managing director of Cermaq Chile, was leading all sales and operations at the company prior to the management shakeup.
