Thai Union-owned seafood processor MerAlliance is expanding its Quimper plant in Brittany, northern France.

MerAlliance spokesperson Isabelle Sechet confirmed the development to IntraFish but declined to specify the scope of the investment.

“The expansion is 1,000 square metres taking it to 12,000 square meters in total,” Sechet said.

The plant’s capacity will remain at 5,000 metric tons a year as the company seeks to optimize production processes.

MerAlliance is in the process of recruiting 150 temporary contract workers ahead of the peak Christmas season.
