Thai Union Group topped the rankings of the inaugural Seafood Stewardship Index (SSI), which assessed the world's 30 largest seafood companies according to their sustainability management and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The company stood out in three key areas, including good governance, thanks to the transparency of its strategy SeaChange; multi-stakeholder activities to improve fishing practices; and support of local livelihood development.

Thai Union was also recognized for transparency in its supply chain.

Norway's Mowi was ranked second and Thai conglomerate CP Foods came in third.
