A diversified Thai seafood group with close to $1 billion (€734.7 million) in sales is launching a new shrimp burger as part of a strategy to develop more innovative, value-added products.

Bangkok-based Wales Group has been developing the burger -- which is 80 percent shrimp -- for a Japanese customer over the last two years, said Vichittra Aramwattananont, its president.

“We have shipped five or six containers already for Japan, and we also have a proposal out to a customer in the United States for a product on similar lines,” she told IntraFish.
