The severe flooding in Thailand will hit shrimp production, it’s just a matter of to what degree, said executives in Bangkok.

The most serious flooding in 30 years is expected in Thailand this week, with the Thai government predicting it will peak on Wednesday or Thursday, said Jim Gulkin, managing director of frozen seafood supplier Siam Canadian Group.

“Shrimp farms will not escape affects of flooding. The only question is severity,” said Gulkin, on his Twitter feed.

"The extent of damage to farms is not yet known as more serious flooding is yet to occur this week," he told IntraFish.
