With yet another Thai seafood scandal hitting the headlines, the Thai Frozen Foods Association (TFFA) -- which represents some 59 members of the industry, primarily shrimp producers -- is scrambling to help the media, consumers and NGOs understand not all of Thai seafood falls under the same umbrella.
Poj Aramwattananont, president of TFFA, said the issues NGOs and papers have been raising have been good at highlighting labor violations in the fishing industry, but it has been a major consumer perception challenge for Thailand’s broader seafood industry, which he said has been unfairly painted with the same broad brush.
