There is no agreement among scientists on whether there the infectious salmon anemia (ISA) virus exists in British Columbia, revealed a Cohen Commission hearing on Thursday.

The commission had its first day of hearings in a session wrapping up its examination the collapse of the 2009 Fraser River sockeye salmon run.

Test results revealed by Canada’s Department of Fisheries and Oceans Scientist Kristi Miller showed that B.C. sockeye salmon have tested positive in a federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans lab for pieces the virus, reports the Vancouver Sun.
