According to the Norwegian television channel TV2, the Swedish supermarket chain Coop Sverige is threatening to cut out sales of Norway’s salmon following a Swedish documentary which painted a negative picture of the industry.

Coop Sverige already stopped buying Chilean salmon, according to its environmental manager, Mikael Robertsson.

TV2 reported it “exposed” and “revealed” that it takes several kilos of wild fish to produce one kilo of salmon. The “exposure” caused a few chuckles in fish farming circles.

The seafood press -- IntraFish in particular -- has written regularly about this phenomenon.
