The newly increased minimum cod price, set by the Norwegian fishermen’s organization Norges Rafisklag, Seafood Norway, NSL and the fish merchants association is only up a fraction of a kroner per kilo, but a weaker currency and already strong prices is making for a strong export market for Norway's harvesters, according to Ballstad fisherman Borge Iversen.
“It’s particularly great that there has been an increase on almost all species. It's most encouraging to see an upward trend,” Iversen said. “We’re also getting good prices with the over-charging on cod now, so that helps to fill the wallet."
