Canned tuna company StarKist has donated over $89,000 (€69,558) of its Flavor Fresh Pouch products to the Hurricane Sandy relief effort.
Its products are going to Feeding America, the largest hunger relief charity in the United States, reports the Sacramento Bee.
Last week’s hurricane resulted in the closure of subways and buses and even the cancellation of the New York City Marathon.
The food will go to community centers provide critical aid for people in need.
“Our thoughts are with the entire Northeast as they manage through the wake of Hurricane Sandy,” Frank Pogue, vice president of marketing and innovation for Starkist, told the newspaper.
