Alaska seafood has developed a positive reputation among Spanish consumers, but the premium price is keeping the product from reaching the broad public, according to one of Spain's largest seafood smokers and distributors.
Barcelona-based Benfumat sells both Norwegian farmed salmon and wild Alaska king salmon, and is inclined to increase sales of king with specific marketing strategies and new packaging and format of the product.
“The quality is the best you can get, it is a premium product, and as such, it has a great acceptance among consumers,” Felix Guarnido, commercial director at Benfumat, told IntraFish.
