Prices for skipjack tuna at the Bangkok auction in Thailand are over $2,000 (€1,582) per metric ton, with deals being done at prices of as much as $2,080 (€1,645).
Most current deals at auction in Bangkok, Thailand are at around $2,050 (€1,621) per metric ton for western Pacific skipjack, a US-based trader told IntraFish.
“Big brokers are asking $2,100 (€1,661), and it's likely that some smaller packers have paid as high as $2,080 (€1,645).”
An Asia-based trading company executive gave a similar market picture.
