Negotiations on the price of Sitka roe herring are continuing, but at this point, prices are expected to be significantly higher this year.
The price is partially settled at 2.3 times higher than last year, reports Minato-Tsukiji.com.
Japanese buyers and an Alaska Sitka roe herring packer reached an agreement on the price last week, the news outlet said.
A source with knowledge of the matter confirmed to IntraFish the price "is going to be higher for sure" but said negotiations are ongoing.
