Shrimp were GlobalGAP certified, Aldi supplier says in wake of Thai slavery reports

The German supplier of two of Aldi Nord's shrimp products -- apetito convenience -- which were processed from GlobalGAP-certified raw material from Charoen Pokphand Foods (CP Foods) -- will expand its social audits to the entire shrimp supply chain.

The company was named as the supplier of Aldi's 'Spaghettinester' products, indirectly sourced from CP Foods.

Apetito now clarified in a statement sent to IntraFish the products were already taken off shelves in late 2013.

"Regardless, we have contacted our previous supplier CP Thailand and requested a comment," the company said.
