Just over a year after the Gulf of Mexico oil spill tested seafood consumer confidence, long time seafood processing plant owner and manager Tommy Lusco is rolling out plans to open the Baton Rouge Shrimp Company Incorporated.

The company will hire 38 people directly and open in about 60 days, Lusco told IntraFish on Wednesday.

Lusco, president and CEO of the company, has invested $2.2 million (€1.6 million) on equipment and renovations to a 50,000-square-foot warehouse in Baton Rouge, where the company will do processing and distribution of wild-caught shrimp.
