Shetland Catch will pay a confiscation order under the Proceeds of Crime Act of £1.5 million (€1.9 million/$2.3 million) and a fine of £150,000 (€189,365/$233,055) for its involvement in a scam selling over quota fish, known as "black fish," it was ruled in the High Court in Edinburgh March 11.

The Directors of Shetland, UK-based Shetland Catch regret the company’s past involvement in over-quota landings and are relieved that the case is now over, they said in a statement.

“The former widespread problem of black fish was actually resolved in the UK with the Registration of buyers legislation from July 2005.
