Scallop firm Seatrade International Co., LLC announced it acquired a new scallop processing facility in New Bedford, Massachusetts, formerly a Mar-Lees scallop plant, a Seatrade spokesperson confirmed to IntraFish.

The new facility is 66,000 square feet and is expected to increase capacity and improve efficiencies, the company said in a press release.

Seatrade already runs scallop and fin-fish processing plants in Lakeville and New Bedford, Massachusetts, and its products are sold in the United States and Europe.

"Seatrade plans to relocate its fresh scallop processing operations from its current location at 8 South Street New Bedford to the previously BRC-certified waterfront facility," according to the company.
