Seafood Holdings acquires Channel Fisheries

UK-based seafood group Seafood Holdings on Thursday acquired Brixham-based Channel Fisheries out of administration in a short-notice deal.

"We had to move incredibly quickly," Seafood Holdings Managing Director Stephen Oswald told IntraFish. "There were a lot of people interested."

Channel Fisheries operates out of Brixham, Ponthenri and London, distributing a broad range of primarily UK-caught fresh fish to high-end restaurants and hotels, most notably Jamie Oliver's restaurants.

Channel Fisheries is "much stronger" in supplying fresh fish species from the Southwest region in particular, Oswald said, making the company a good complement to Seafood Holdings' operations.
